About This Project:
The TransBay Terminal was built in an architecture style of a different time in the 1930s, designed by Timothy Pflueger. In 2008, I illustrated a book for Therese Poletti on Pflueger's work (still available on Amazon). When I heard it was being torn down, I wanted to pay my respects to this forlorn and under-appreciated facility. These images were shot in the last days before it was closed and demolished. Many of these images are in a permanent exhibit at the Metropolitan Transit Authority in Oakland, CA. It was shot in 4x5 film.
